Looking for Travel Insurance That Covers Covid-19?
The pandemic has changed the way we travel, and Travel Insurance has never been so important.
While you may be ready to travel again, we understand you may still be concerned about the impact Coronavirus might have on your holiday plans. That’s why all of our policies include cover for emergency medical and associated expenses (including if you contract Coronavirus on holiday).
In addition, all policies now provide cover if you need to cancel your holiday because you contract Covid-19 before you travel, although each insurer has different terms.
*IMPORTANT: We’ll compare several insurers for you when you enter your details. Terms vary between each scheme. To make it clear what is covered in relation to Coronavirus we have added a ‘Covid-19’ document to each scheme, which you can see alongside the price when you get a quote.
Your Coronavirus Travel Insurance Questions Answered
If I fall ill at home with COVID-19 and cannot travel am I covered under Travel Insurance?
Yes, with some of our schemes you will be covered as standard, subject to a medical certificate / test result, providing you have tested positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of travel. Note that with some insurers yout will not be covered for Covid-related cancellation claims within the first 7 days after the policy start date. See Covid-19 doc at point of sale for details.
If I have to self isolate at home and cannot travel am I covered?
The recent change in rules here in the UK mean it is unlikely you will now need to self isolate, however, we do have schemes avaialble where you will be covered as standard, subject to a medical certificate / test result.
Can I still buy Travel Insurance with Covid cover if I have not been vaccinated?
Yes, you can still buy Travel Insurance if you have not been vaccinated against Covid-19, however, some insurers will have an exclusion that means there is no cover for Covid-related claims if you have not had the vaccine. This is not the case for all insurers and it is explained within the Covid document you will see alongside the price, and the policy wordinged settings.
Does Covid cancellation cover start immediately?
While cancellation cover typically starts immediately on a single trip policy, you should be aware that some insurers stipulate that you will not be covered for Covid-related cancellation claims within the first 7 days after the policy start date. Please check the Covid-19 document alongside the prices when you get a quote.
If I fall ill with COVID-19 (or other pandemic illness) when I am on holiday will I be covered?
You will be covered on all schemes for emergency medical (and associated) expenses, provided you have not travelled against government / medical advice. All insurers provide different levels of cover – check wording or call us for details.
Does Travel Insurance cover me if there is a change in FCDO (government) advice?
Our Travel Insurance policies continue to be based on the FCDO advice and are not impacted by the current traffic light system.
You will not be covered to travel to any destination where the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office (FCDO) has advised against all, or all but essential Travel, and it is your responsibility to check the latest advice from the FCDO prior to commencing your trip.
If the FCDO changes its advice for the country you are travelling to due to Covid-19, you will not be covered to claim for cancellation on your Travel Insurance.
If this does happen you should contact your travel agent or tour operator who will usually provide alternative options.
I've changed my holiday date due to COVID-19 and I already have Travel Insurance. Can I change dates?
It is usually possible to change the dates on your policy, and how far into the future you can amend to will depend on which company you are insured with. Please call us to discuss your options.
