Where to go for an August bank holiday break

As the August Bank Holiday approaches many of you will be heading off for some well-deserved sunshine.

Paphos (Cyprus)

The 2017 European capital of culture is dotted with castles, churches and white sandy beaches, making it the perfect place to visit for romantics.

The ancient site of Kourion should be added to your literary. The magnificent 2,000-seat amphitheatre overlooks the sea and is still used for summer productions, it’s a place of beauty at sunset.

Malaga (Spain)

Late summer is a great time of year to visit the city which is loaded with history and was the birthplace of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.

Make your way through the winding lanes in the heart of the city to find some excellent seafood and tapas restaurants, all washed down with delicious local wine of course.

Valletta (Malta)

The capital city of Malta like others on our list is known for its many museums, palaces and churches. You’ll find a mixture of both classical and modern architecture throughout the city.

An early evening visit to the picturesque waterfront is a thing of beauty with the contrast of the orange and red sky along with the beautiful buildings.

Patara (Turkey)

Barcelona (Spain)

The Catalan capital is perfect for any traveller wanting the option of mixing a city-break and beach holiday.
