It’s easy to see why Australia is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. From expansive landscapes, endless golden beaches and outstanding natural beauty to wonderful wines and delicious food, “oz” really does have it all.
Here are our 5 top picks to do whilst visiting Oz.
1. Go diving in the Great Barrier Reef
Located in the North of Australia is the world’s largest coral reef system – The Great Barrier Reef. Home to world-class dive sites, colourful coral and secluded soft white beaches, the Great Barrier Reef has tropical jungles lapping the edge and is a must visit. Visit between June and October for the sunshine, or catch Turtle hatching season between December and January.
2. Get the perfect snap in Sydney
Home to the infamous Opera house, Harbour Bridge and Australia’s best beaches that stretch along the coast from Coogee to Bondi. Get you holiday snaps in Sydney harbour before making the most of the beautiful beaches. For the perfect beach weather visit between October and May or between June and September to see 20,000 whales migrate along the coast.
3. Spot the real locals at Kangaroo Island
Located off the South coast of Australia, is Kangaroo Island. The secluded island is a haven to local Kangaroo species, koalas, sea lions, echidnas, wallabies and dolphins. Visit between December and February to make the most out of the beaches and to explore the breath-taking landscape. Visit in Australia’s winter months to catch some Whales and be in awe of the vibrant green backdrop.
4. Under the stars in Uluru
The literal heart of Australia. The red monolith is not only a World Heritage site, but one of Australia’s most symbolic landmarks. You can view the dramatic landscape by foot or bike. Or make it even more memorable by taking a camel or helicopter ride around the circumference. Visit from June to August and enjoy dinner under the stars on a sand dune.
5. Magical Melbourne
Melbourne is home to a wide variety of activities and places to explore. It also offers something for everyone from eye-popping street art and speakeasies to the ultimate road trip along Great Ocean Road. Relax with a refreshing sunset cocktail on a rooftop bar, indulge in a lavish meal or sample some trail blazing wines. Visit between November and March for sunny skies and a jam-packed calendar of events.
